Many Reasons To Remember My First American Trip:

My trip was scheduled for December 2003 but I missed the flight due to delays at the customs area.

We were checked into an hotel but asked to leave the next day because the airline didn’t pay.

I went home, showed up like a ghost. I wasn’t expected back soon.

I felt bad for those who came from other states to board in Lagos.

After a lot of bitter exchanges and disappointments between airlines, travelers and government official I had to buy another ticket.

No refund was issued for the old two-way ticket.

Flight Reschedule

February 2004

Having satisfied immigration formalities I proceeded to the gate but was intercepted by a uniformed officer who engaged me in a question and answer session.

At the end I was sent to the drug holding area (I don’t know what’s the place is called).

It’s a place where suspected drug traffickers were kept for interrogation.

It was situated in the basement of the airport.

I witnessed interviews and answered a few questions myself.

I went through the x-ray machine and was let go after an hour because nothing was found on me.

I was put on another flight since I missed the original one.
